THE COMPETITION

The Barista League is a barista competition - just not like one you’ve ever seen before. Teams of two compete in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary competition based on the real world skills a great barista has mastered.  In the Drinks Challenge, teams have 15min to make a series of coffee drinks for our VIP judges while also having to serve two mystery customers at the same time. In our sensory challenge, teams put their taste buds to the test to see if they can identify flavours from mystery infusions.

You don’t need to train or bring any equipment with you - just a partner. The competition is totally free and created for all coffee people - from brand-new baristas to world champions. If you’re down to have some fun while making coffee, The Barista League is for you!

The Barista League isn’t just about the competition, we believe our attendees should have just as much fun as the competitors. There is always plenty of cool stuff for attendees to get stuck into, expect games, activations, prizes, and loads more.

New in 2024, Toddy is introducing a Cold Brew Comparison Challenge to The Barista League events. Put your tastebuds to the test by sampling two different brews and then identifying each from two listed options. Those who nail it will take home fun Toddy swag and, of course, bragging rights. Those who don't... you can always try, try again.

Play Prana Chai Ping Pong: Throw the balls and try to get the highest points - winner gets $500!

We know there’s more to life than great coffee, so at our events you will also find truly exceptional food and drink options. We’ve partnered with local legends Yullis Bar and Restaurant who will be serving up delicious vegan and gluten-free dishes alongside their own craft beers.

PNV Merchants, Sydney's premier natural wine shop, will also be offering their sustainable and organic wine collection and MAPO will be serving their famed artisanal gelato, made fresh right here in Sydney! 

And Almighty will be keeping us all hydrated at the event with their range of all natural sparkling water.

  • Ticket Price is listed at the top of the page and on our ticketing platform. Early bird tickets are available at 50% discount up until approximately 2 weeks prior to the event.

    What does the ticket price go towards?
    2 Euros from each ticket go towards offsetting carbon emissions from the event. A futher 2 EUR go towards our re-usable cup system to fully remove single use items from the event.

    You also have the option of donating to our long time charity partner Grounds For Health.

  • There will be food options, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase at the event. More information will appear closer to the event.

  • We believe that its not worth producing events unless we are doing our utmost to ensure a negative or neutral environmental impact. To achieve this we have several sustainability policies that it’s good to be aware of.

    No Single Use

    There wont be any single use items at the event. While we will provide a re-usable cup system for you at the event, we encourage you to bring a re-useable cup to the event.

    Vegetarian Food

    All food and drink options will be vegetarian with a preference for plantbased.

    Waste & Recycling

    We work hard to reduce all potential in-streams of waste into the event. We then ensure that we are recycling as much as possible according to local infrastructure and regulations. Please help us by recycling in the correct containers.

  • Along with ticket sales, we are also collecting donations for our official charity partner Grounds for Health, an international non-profit who are dedicated to combatting cervical cancer in coffee-producing communities through treatment and screening.
