THE JOURNEY TO A NET POSITIVE EVENT
A lot of unsustainable practices come from laziness or lack of time. We believe that this isn’t good enough and are committed to putting the time, energy and money into making our events as sustainable as possible
TRACKING
You can’t make any improvements until you know how you are currently doing. In 2019, we started a journey towards creating net positive events by looking into every aspect of our events, from how much waste we produce, to how much emissions are caused by freighting goods to the venue, to the difference carbon costs of meat and vegetarian meals.
While the takeaways have been many, it was mindblowing to realise the things that make a big difference and the things that are just virtue signaling.
This is why we track and publish our environmental impact from every event.
REPORTING
We often say that an event doesn’t end when the people go home and reporting on our environmental impact is an important part of our post-production process. This constant evaluation of our actions and the resulting impact we have is important to us in producing more and more sustainable events each year.
IMPROVING
Tracking and reporting are only worth the improvements that come along with those efforts. We are constantly re-evaluating ways to reduce waste, cut emissions, and create more positive effects from our events.
Our goal is to create an event where any negative impacts from the event are reduced as much as possible and then offset by positive impacts and carbon buybacks.
We are developing a new sustainability platform with new, more ambitious goals - so stay tuned for more over the course of 2024.
